The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University (Dongguan Eastern Central Hospital), formerly Dongguan Changping Hospital, is located in Changping Town, the eastern central town of Dongguan City, known as the "first town along the Jingjiu Railway." Established in 1958, it is a university-affiliated hospital integrating medical care, teaching, research, and health preservation. It is a designated medical insurance hospital for Dongguan City social security, Guangtie Group medical insurance, and a networked direct settlement institution for inter-regional medical treatment. It is also a teaching hospital of ordinary higher medical colleges in Guangdong Province and one of the five regional central hospitals planned by the municipal party committee and government. Its development positioning is as the eastern medical center of Dongguan City, providing medical services to over 1.3 million people in eastern Dongguan. In 2017, it became the first hospital in Dongguan to pass the new national standard evaluation for secondary-level hospitals. The hospital lies between Dongguan East Railway Station and Changping Railway Station, with nearby access to Chaowan Expressway, Congwan Expressway, and the Eastern Expressway. The already operational Dongguan-Huiyang urban rail and the upcoming Line 3 metro will both intersect near the hospital, offering excellent transportation convenience. The hospital serves approximately 1.2 million outpatient and emergency patients annually, treats about 25,000 inpatients, and performs around 14,000 inpatient surgeries each year. With its scale, academic strength, and service capacity, it leads the eastern Dongguan region. It has received numerous honors, including "Baby-Friendly Hospital," "One of Guangdong's Hundred Civilized Hospitals," "Dongguan Model Unit for Civilization," and "Dongguan Garden-Like Unit." It has been recognized as an outstanding unit in comprehensive hospital management in Dongguan for three consecutive years. In 2016, it was the only hospital from Dongguan selected to participate in the provincial performance evaluation of secondary public hospitals, ranking third province-wide. In 2018, one project won the Asia Hospital Management Award (China) for Best Clinical Service Project—the first hospital in Guangdong to receive this honor. In the same year, one quality control circle project won the first prize in the tertiary hospital comprehensive group at the First Guangdong Provincial Hospital Quality Control Circle Competition. In 2019, another quality control circle project won the first prize at the Second National Conference on Best Practices in Hospital Quality Management (QCC Tools). In 2019, one nursing case won the first prize in the wound category at the First Chinese Nursing Association Wound and Ostomy Case Competition. In 2020, it was awarded first place nationwide for best medical quality management practice and recognized as an advanced collective in Dongguan’s fight against COVID-19. The hospital covers an area of 72,000 square meters with a construction area of 86,000 square meters, has a planned bed capacity of 700 and actually opens 710 beds. It employs over 1,100 staff members, including 55 with senior professional titles and 133 with associate senior titles. The hospital features comprehensive disciplines, with 35 clinical departments and 10 auxiliary examination and treatment departments. Orthopedics and emergency medicine are key clinical specialties in Dongguan City, while cardiology and psychological nursing are recognized as distinctive clinical specialties. Additionally, the hospital is a national-level chest pain center, stroke center, Guangdong Provincial Medical Association's osteoporosis prevention and control base, a designated unit for the Dongguan regional sterilization supply center, and a clinical practice base for wound and ostomy care in Dongguan City. It is currently actively working toward establishing a stroke center and holds significant technical advantages in treating neurological diseases, bone disorders, interventional therapy, minimally invasive endoscopic treatments for digestive, hepatic, biliary, gastrointestinal, urinary, and gynecological conditions, burn treatment and medical plastic surgery, colorectal disease treatment, hand trauma management, and neonatal diseases.
