Dongcheng Hospital (formerly Fucheng Hospital)

Dongcheng Hospital (formerly Fucheng Hospital) is the only public hospital in Dongcheng District, located in the city center south of Renmin Park. It has long been responsible for medical care, emergency response, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, community health services, health education, and family planning technical services for the district's population of 500,000, including migrant residents. Since its establishment in November 1959, the hospital has evolved through several generations of dedicated efforts from a rural health station into a second-level hospital. The hospital covers a total area of 13,583.21 m² (including: Main Hospital 3,291.54 m², Lixin Branch 2,000 m², Xiabiao Outpatient Department 275 m², Wentang Outpatient Department 1,350 m², Tongsha Outpatient Department 6,666.67 m²), with a business building area of 28,967.31 m² (including: Main Hospital 10,948.31 m², Lixin Branch 11,600 m², Xiabiao Outpatient Department 550 m², Wentang Outpatient Department 2,098 m², Tongsha Outpatient Department 3,771 m²). The hospital has a fixed bed capacity of 380 (including: Main Hospital 300 beds, Lixin Branch 80 beds), with 200 available beds. It operates one Lixin Branch and three outpatient departments at Wentang, Xiabiao, and Tongsha, as well as five standardized planned immunization clinics located in Gangbei, Lixin, Wentang, Xiabiao, and Tongsha. Clinical departments include: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neonatology, Maternal and Child Health, Otorhinolaryngology, Stomatology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Orthopedics, TCM Massage and Physical Therapy, Dermatology and Venereology, Urology, Operating Room, Pain Management, Hepatology, Infertility and Sterility, Endocrinology, Maternal and Child Health, Proctology, etc. Medical technology departments include: Radiology (X-ray Room, CT Room), Medical Laboratory, Pharmacy, Ultrasound, Functional Examination, and Endoscopy. Preventive healthcare includes: Planned Immunization Clinic, Health Check-up Center, and Sanitation Licensing Center. The hospital serves over 800,000 outpatient patients annually, admits more than 10,000 inpatients yearly, administers over 300,000 immunization doses annually, and publishes over 20 papers each year in core medical journals. Currently, the hospital has 537 staff members on duty, of whom 90% are health professionals; 28 hold senior or higher titles, 100 have mid-level professional titles, and 1 holds a postgraduate degree. The hospital is equipped with a series of large and medium-sized high-quality medical instruments, including imported whole-body CT scanners, DR, CR, fully automatic biochemical analyzers, immunochemical luminometers, fully automatic blood cell counters, four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound machines, 500mA X-ray machines, laparoscopes, hysteroscopes, electronic gastroenteroscopes, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripters, cystoscopes, ventilators, fetal monitors, neonatal hearing screening devices, bone densitometers, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease diagnostic analyzers, emergency resuscitation monitoring systems, ultrasonic diagnostic systems, and physical therapy and rehabilitation equipment, with over 500 items valued at more than 10,000 yuan. In 2009, the Gangbei General Hospital's A Building 5th floor and B Building 7th floor inpatient buildings were put into use, featuring central oxygen supply systems, sterilization rooms, imaging departments, and HIS systems, offering complete facilities and achieving second-class hospital standards in both hardware and software construction. In recent years, the hospital has been committed to improving services and adopting innovative technologies, successfully completing various complex, difficult, urgent, critical, and severe cases in diagnosis and treatment. It has extensively carried out surgeries in neurosurgery, thoracic and abdominal surgery, spinal and limb surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, gynecology, and dentistry.
