Dongguan Xiegang Hospital (Xiegang Branch of Dongguan People's Hospital) is located in the Yinpíng Innovation Zone of Xiegang Town, Dongguan City, situated along the Dongguan-Huiyang corridor, adjacent to the Dongguan-Huiyang Light Rail Station and Xiegang Government Service Center. With continuously improving transportation infrastructure, Xiegang's urban modernization is accelerating rapidly. The hospital has a history spanning over 60 years, having undergone three name changes and three relocations, evolving into a modern, secondary-level comprehensive hospital with tertiary-level scale, integrating medical care, teaching, research, and rehabilitation. The campus is equipped with advanced medical devices including DSA, MRI, CT, cardiac ultrasound, four-dimensional ultrasound, ambulatory ECG, high-definition gastrointestinal endoscopy, the latest digital mammography DR system, various minimally invasive surgical tools for general and gynecological surgery, negative-pressure operating rooms, and full ICU equipment. The hospital’s medical information system supports mutual recognition of examination results with Dongguan People's Hospital and enables remote consultations. Departments such as Anesthesia and Surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Rehabilitation, Respiratory Medicine, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, Ultrasonography, and Cardiology have joined specialty alliances led by Dongguan People's Hospital and become official collaborating units. Professor Xie Yuhuan and Professor Guo Suxia teams from Dongguan People's Hospital have successively been stationed at Xiegang Hospital, providing strong technical support and driving development, bringing tertiary-level hospital medical expertise and services to residents of Xiegang and surrounding areas. Dongguan Xiegang Hospital was established in 1961, renamed Xiegang Hospital in 1986, officially awarded the "Baby-Friendly Hospital" title by the Ministry of Health in April 1996, and granted Level One A hospital status in July 1996. In 2015, it formed a medical consortium with Dongguan People's Hospital. Currently, the new hospital campus spans a total area of 72 mu (approximately 4.8 hectares), with a total construction area of 64,211 square meters. The first phase, launched in 2017, includes outpatient services, medical technology buildings, inpatient departments, and a fever clinic. The second phase, completed and put into use by late October 2021, covers an area of 12,091.498 square meters with a construction area of 34,846.19 square meters, featuring 13 floors above ground and one underground parking level, integrating medical facilities, administrative and logistical offices, and staff recreational spaces. New departments have been added, including traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation, health check-ups (including occupational disease screening), hemodialysis, and integrated medical-care and elderly care services, significantly expanding the hospital’s service reach. Leveraging the “medical consortium” model, Xiegang Hospital is striving to become a central medical hub and emergency response center for eastern Dongguan, creating a favorable investment environment for economic, political, and social development in Xiegang Town and providing robust healthcare support to residents in Xiegang and surrounding areas. Upholding the development philosophy of “Xiegang’s Mountain and Water, Happiness and Health,” and aligning with future economic growth and trends in medicine and hospital development, Dongguan Xiegang Hospital successfully joined the ranks of secondary comprehensive hospitals in September 2021. The hospital aims to be a smart, regional secondary-level comprehensive hospital with the capabilities and specialty branding of a tertiary-level hospital. With continuous technological advancement and enhanced service quality, the hospital now has 435 staff members and 480 open beds (230 in Phase I and 250 in Phase II). Building on the technical advantages of the medical consortium, the hospital has successfully diagnosed, treated, and rescued numerous critical, complex, and rare cases using advanced technologies. Notably, under the leadership and direct involvement of Dr. Guo Suxia, head of the Cardiology Department II at Dongguan People's Hospital, over 600 cases of cardiac catheterization procedures—including coronary angiography, stent implantation, pacemaker insertion, and radiofrequency ablation for cardiac electrophysiology—have been successfully performed. Advanced professional equipment and shared medical resources between urban and rural areas. Additionally, remote teleconsultations in radiology, mutual recognition of laboratory test results, and information platform sharing highlight the advantages of resource sharing within the medical consortium. The hospital has achieved abundant research outcomes and impressive academic accomplishments. As a grassroots hospital, it adheres to the major strategic initiative of "developing the hospital through science and technology," focusing on the forefront of medical science, strengthening platform and team building as its developmental path. From 2015 to 2022, the hospital secured 21 projects (including 2 key projects), successfully completing 8 of them. The future outlook is promising, dedicated to improving public health. In recent years, while emphasizing balanced development in medical care, education, and research, Dongguan Xiegang Hospital has consistently upheld its mission of saving lives and serving the people, actively assuming social responsibility. In early 2021, the orthopedic department of Dongguan Xiegang Hospital was recognized as a municipal clinical specialty department.
