Shatian Hospital

Shatian Hospital was established in 1958, located in the main port area of the national first-class port (Dongguan Port), and is the only public hospital in Shatian Town. It was rated as a Class A Level 1 hospital in 1996 and listed as a Level 2 managed hospital in 2011, providing medical and health services for nearly 300,000 residents in the town. The hospital currently covers an area of 29,000 m² with a construction area of 29,000 m², including one outpatient building, two inpatient buildings, one medical technology building, and one administrative and logistics building. The hospital has 300 designated beds. It features primary departments such as Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, etc. Within Internal Medicine, there are specialized teams in gastroenterology, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory medicine; Surgery includes secondary specialties such as General Surgery and Orthopedics; Obstetrics and Gynecology includes gynecology and obstetrics as secondary specialties; Pediatrics includes neonatal and general pediatric wards. Orthopedics is a city-level characteristic specialty. Orthopedics, Geriatrics, and Pain Rehabilitation Medicine have been designated as key (characteristic) development specialties at the town level. The hospital is equipped with a 1.5T MRI scanner, spiral CT, digital radiography system (DR), multi-functional digital fluoroscopy unit, high-definition electronic laparoscope, C-arm X-ray machine, percutaneous disc surgery system, ophthalmic surgical microscope, electronic nasal and pharyngeal endoscope, otolaryngological surgical microscope, fiberoptic bronchoscope, electronic gastroscope, arthroscope, panoramic dental X-ray machine, fully automatic biochemical analyzer, fully automatic blood cell analyzer, multi-parameter blood gas analyzer, Doppler color ultrasound scanner, shockwave pain therapy system, and a multi-functional Health Screening vehicle, meeting diverse diagnostic and treatment needs. The hospital currently has 350 medical staff, including 60 with senior professional titles (7 with full senior titles) and 85 with intermediate titles; 3 master's degree holders and 151 with bachelor's degrees. The hospital has established medical consortia with Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Municipal People's Hospital, Municipal Binhaiwan Central Hospital, Houdong Hospital, and Town Community Health Center. It has successively joined multiple provincial and municipal specialized alliances, including the China Pulmonary Rehabilitation Nursing Alliance (national level), Guangdong Province Rheumatology and Immunology Specialized Alliance, Dongguan Maternal and Child Health Specialized Alliance, Dongguan Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Specialized Alliance, Dongguan Occupational Disease Prevention and Control Specialized Alliance, and Dongguan Dermatology and Venereal Disease Specialized Alliance. It has set up specialized workstations such as the Urology Wei Biao Studio and the Otolaryngology Yang Guang Studio. The hospital conducts various business collaborations with institutions including Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, and Southern Medical University. Over the past four years, there has been a continuous improvement in disease spectrum management, surgical volume, surgical complexity level, inpatient numbers, and overall clinical capabilities, with nearly 400 third- and fourth-level procedures such as arthroscopy and laparoscopy performed annually. The hospital has successfully carried out a range of advanced techniques, including laparoscopic surgeries for general and gynecological systems, spinal endoscopy, external fixation with plate for cervical spine fractures, artificial hip replacement, vertebroplasty, limb reattachment, complex pelvic fractures, multiple vertebral burst fractures, cervical cerclage, and vaginal total hysterectomy, essentially achieving 'common diseases treated within Shatian'. The hospital serves 420,000 outpatient visits and treats 10,000 inpatients annually.
