Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital

Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital is a public welfare second-class non-governmental institution directly under the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau. Its predecessor was "Huixing Shan Yuan," established in 1903. It was officially named Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital in 1981. In 2019, as a key municipal livelihood project, the municipal government constructed Guangzhou Geriatric Rehabilitation Hospital, managed by Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital. After approval from the Municipal Institutional Commission, Guangzhou Dongsheng Hospital added the nameplate of Guangzhou Geriatric Rehabilitation Hospital, becoming the city's first geriatric rehabilitation hospital. The hospital currently has three campuses: Huangpu Campus (inpatient department), Renminzhong Outpatient Department, and Wan Shou Road Outpatient Department. The Huangpu Campus is located at No. 3016 Kaitong Avenue, Huangpu District, with a planned capacity of 800 beds, developed in two phases. Phase one, with 450 beds, is already in use, while phase two, with 350 beds, will be delivered in 2022. As a century-old hospital, it has always upheld the motto "Integrity, Benevolence, Dedication, and Pursuit of Excellence," and practiced the spirit of "Unity, Struggle, Practicality, and Progressiveness." The hospital continuously strives for technical excellence, producing outstanding figures such as labor model Tan Taosheng at provincial and municipal levels. It has earned a strong reputation among the general public and widespread trust and praise from patients. The hospital currently employs over 200 professional and technical staff, including 25 senior-level professionals and 58 mid-level professionals; 22 hold postgraduate degrees, 2 have doctoral degrees, and 2 have overseas study experience. Currently, Dr. Pan Cuilian, head of the rehabilitation department at Guangzhou Medical University Second Affiliated Hospital, regularly participates in ward rounds at the hospital’s rehabilitation department, and Dr. Wang Zhengwei, head of the internal medicine department at Guangzhou Medical University Third Affiliated Hospital, regularly participates in ward rounds at the internal medicine department. The hospital has also signed a medical consortium agreement with Guangzhou Medical University Third Affiliated Hospital and a green channel referral agreement with Guangzhou Medical University Fifth Affiliated Hospital. In the future, the hospital will invite renowned experts and professors from major tertiary hospitals across Guangzhou to serve as guest experts, participating in ward rounds and teaching activities. With a professional medical team and multi-directional collaborations in medical technology, the hospital ensures high-quality medical care. The hospital focuses on rehabilitation medicine and geriatric medicine as its key development directions. Outpatient departments offer services in internal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, dermatology, rehabilitation medicine, stomatology, gynecology, surgery, acupuncture and massage, among others. The inpatient department currently operates two wards: internal medicine and rehabilitation. The rehabilitation department primarily treats patients requiring rehabilitation therapy for various conditions, including sequelae from cerebrovascular diseases such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury, post-fracture recovery, spinal cord injury, dementia in the elderly, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, and various chronic pain conditions. The service population spans different age groups, including elderly, middle-aged, and young adults.
