Guangzhou Medical University Affiliated Second Hospital (commonly known as Guangyi ErYuan) was officially established in December 1982 and founded the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou Medical College in August 2004. In June 2013, the hospital was formally renamed Guangzhou Medical University Affiliated Second Hospital, and the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou Medical College was renamed the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou Medical University. After more than 30 years of arduous entrepreneurship, the hospital has continuously grown and developed into a large-scale, tertiary-A comprehensive hospital and an affiliated hospital of a higher medical institution, integrating medical care, teaching, and research. It now boasts a complete team of medical professionals, strong academic disciplines, advanced medical technology, outstanding scientific and educational achievements, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, and comprehensive medical services. Originally established as the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, it was fully integrated into the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University in 2016 with approval from the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of Institutions and Guangzhou Medical University. The campus covers an area of 82 mu (approximately 5.47 hectares) and has a building area of 66,000 square meters, featuring outpatient departments, medical technology buildings, and inpatient towers. It currently operates 12 inpatient wards with 500 beds, undertaking responsibilities in medical care, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, emergency treatment, teaching, and scientific research. The campus primarily provides comprehensive healthcare services to residents in Panyu and Nansha districts. Guided by the "small comprehensive, large specialty" development strategy, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University implements a "vertical management" model to further extend high-quality medical resources from a tertiary hospital. The Panyu Campus specializes in organ transplantation, critical emergency care, radiological interventional therapy and minimally invasive surgery, comprehensive cancer treatment, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease management, striving to become a key pillar of healthcare development in Panyu District. The West Campus is located in Guangzhi District, Guangzhou, at Guangzhi Road. Formerly known as Guangzhi Hospital, it was fully transferred and reorganized under the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University in 2012 according to municipal government regulations. The West Campus directly manages the Nanshao Street Community Health Service Center—the only community health center in Guangzhou directly operated by a Grade-A tertiary hospital. Currently, the campus comprises five departments: outpatient department, preventive health care department, inpatient department, medical technology department, traditional Chinese and Western medicine pharmacy, and general office, with 75 open beds. In 2015, the hospital, utilizing its strong technical capabilities and advantages as a Grade-A tertiary hospital, established two new inpatient wards at the West Campus with over 50 beds, addressing the shortage of ophthalmology and rehabilitation professionals and limited treatment options in the community, thereby meeting diverse health needs of local residents.
