Guangzhou Medical University Affiliated Eighth Hospital (affiliated with Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital, Guangzhou Hepatology Hospital, and Guangzhou Institute of Infectious Diseases), established in 1921, is a municipal public tertiary hospital integrating medical care, teaching, research, and preventive health services. It is a key unit of Guangdong Province’s high-level hospital construction program, a core member of the National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases, a co-construction unit of the National Virus Resource Bank, a national postdoctoral research workstation approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, a national clinical drug trial site for liver diseases and HIV/AIDS, a national training base for clinical HIV/AIDS physicians, a key research and clinical base for traditional Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of infectious diseases under the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Workstation, and the host institution of the Guangdong Provincial Quality Control Center for HIV/AIDS Diagnosis and Treatment. It serves as an affiliated non-direct hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and a teaching hospital for Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University, Southern Medical University, and Guangdong Pharmaceutical University.
